Blog Series on Research Methods

The NSRN, working with the Scientific Study of Nonreligious Belief, has launched a blog series on research methods for atheism research. Lee, Bullivant, Farias, and Lanman identify the problem as follows: “we do not yet have a fully-developed and centralised body of conceptual and methodological tools that will help both to consolidate and disseminate this growing body of knowledge.” I look forward to the series, although I must admit to having fewer methodological concerns given that I take a social movement approach to atheist activism. For example, recruiting non-affiliates does not impact my current work, although I can see this being a bigger issue for future projects. More importantly, perhaps, is the lack of shared reference points.
